High in the central Sahara lies a plateau that feels both ancient and unfamiliar.
Towers of eroded sandstone rise like natural fortresses, deep corridors slice through pale rock, and the wind carries sand across a landscape that seems suspended outside of time.
This is Tassili n’Ajjer in southeastern Algeria.
At first glance, it appears to be pure desert, but the cliffs hold one of the greatest archaeological archives in Africa and the memory of a world that once looked nothing like today.
